Description

A mid 18th Century Swiss quarter repeating verge in gold and enamel pair cases with protective outer.  Full plate fire gilt movement with signed and numbered gilt dust cover.  Pierced and engraved masked cock, garnet endstone, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with ratchet and click barrel setup between the plates.  Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Push pendant quarter repeating on bell in the case.  Signed white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, decorative stone set white metal hands.  Three cases, the gold inner pierced and sparsely engraved, gold push pendant and bow.  Two colour gold outer case with fine slits to allow the bell to sound clearly, front bezel set with a row of white stones.  The back with a large oval miniature of a young lady in classical dress and floral hat.  Around this a border of dark blue translucent enamel overlaid with stones in a pierced white metal setting.  Protective outer case with glazed back, the bezels of painted fax tortoiseshell set with gilt roundels.
