A fine early 17th Century French pre-balance spring verge in the form of a crucifix in gilt and rock crystal case. Deep full plate fire gilt cruciform movement with pierced and engraved pillars. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup on the plate with small silver index. Pierced and engraved cock, small steel balance without spring. Later four wheel going train. Small teardrop shaped silver dial, centre engraved with a cathedral and below a winged heart. Roman numerals, small single gilt hand. Engraved gilt crucifix shaped mask with curved ends. Fine rock crystal case, both halves mounted in engraved gilt frames.

A late 17th century French verge oignon with silver mock pendulum cock in a silver consular case. Very deep full plate fire gilt movement, slender Egyptian pillars with turned finials. Fusee and heavy chain with spring and ratchet setup between the plates, the barrel with a rim to both top and bottom. Engraved silver mock pendulum bridge cock with semi-circular aperture to reveal a steel bob on one arm of the balance. Silver regulator dial under a blue steel bridge acting on a visible blue steel rack, silver pierced and engraved decoration flanking it. Silver chased and engraved plate to protect the escapement from a broken fusee chain. Decorative pierced and engrave decoration to the foot of the case spring. Winding through the unusual white enamel dial, Arabic minute numerals, the Roman hour numerals on raised “cartouches”. Unusual silver beetle and poker hands. Plain silver consular case, seven joint square hinge, silver ring pendant and bow.

Mock Pendulum Silver Pair Cased Verge
A large early 18th Century English champleve dial verge with mock pendulum in silver pair cases. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with Egyptian pillars. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Winged cock with large mask engraved on the table above the semi-circular aperture which reveals the oscillating bob on one arm of the steel balance. Engraved index under the balance, the regulation pins in the form of a hand with pointing finger. Solid engraved foot to the cock and plate for the regulator square. Signed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Matching silver pair cases, split bezel, silver pendant and bow. Plain silver inner case, number corresponding to that on the movement. Plain silver outer case numbered on the bezel next to pendant, the square seven joint hinge modified to the later fashion of rounded corners.

Unusual Mock Pendulum Verge with Enamel Scenes
An early 18th Century English verge with mock pendulum in a very unusual silver consular case set with polychrome enamels. Deep full plate fire gilt movement, gilt Egyptian pillars capped by a thin blue steel plate and silver tops. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. The table of the bridge cock covered with a polychrome enamel portrait of a young woman holding a dove, semi-circular lower section pierced and glazed to reveal the bob on the balance. Engraved gilt rim enclosing the balance protecting it from dust. Silver regulator disc flanked by two pierced and engrave silver affixes. Wound through the signed silver dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Silver consular case of very unusual design, both front and back covers opening sharing the same seven joint hinge with the middle section. The middle constructed much like the inner of a pair case with a glazed split bezel hinged with the movement which the chased and engraved bezel closes over. Silver pendant and ring bow. Chased and engraved back cover set with a large polychrome enamel scene of an elderly man and young lady. Opening the back cover reveals the back of the movement framed in a plain deep silver bezel and the reverse of the plaque with is decorated with another polychrome enamel scene of a courting couple and onlooker.

Rare Early Verge Pocket Watch with Garden of Eden Automation
A fine and rare 18th Century English verge with automated scene in a gold consular case. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with gilt dust ring. Turned baluster pillars, fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. The winged cock and regulator plate left plain, being neither pierced or engraved. Plain gilt balance. A central stalk supports the scene and carries a wheel which is driven by another mounted on the contrate wheel arbor. Fine white enamel dial with apertures for winding and regulation of the watch. Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Plain gold consular case, maker's mark “IB”. A glazed aperture on the back reveals a gold chased and engraved repousse scene depicting Eve offering Adam the apple in the Garden of Eden. A snake circles the scene as the watch runs, its support hidden under the pierced and engraved border of the dust cover.

Rare Champleve Dial Verge with Portraits
A rare early 18th Century verge, silver champleve dial with an aperture revealing a rotating enamel disc in unusual decorative silver pair cases. Deep full plate fire gilt fusee movement with square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved winged cock, later garnet endstone, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain four arm gilt balance. Signed silver champleve dial with arcaded minute ring, Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands. Between the numerals eleven and one an aperture through which can be seen a section of a polychrome enamel disc. This disc has five separate portraits which are changed by depressing and releasing the push pendant. Plain silver inner case with two makers marks “IPB” below a crown and “GP” below a sword, silver push pendant and stirrup bow. Rare and attractive outer case formed of 16 scolloped panels set with coloured gem stones and rock crystal. The centre and four of the panels in the back in engraved gilt metal.

Pierced and engraved masked cock, diamond endstone in a blue steel setting, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Push pendant quarter repeating on a bell in the case. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands. Pierced and engraved 22 carat gold inner case, foliate decoration inhabited by birds and dolphins, gold push pendant. Steel pulse piece to silence the bell. Unusual pierced and engraved 22 carat gold outer case decorated with a scene in Chinese style depicting a pagoda, peacock, fox and rabbits partly overlaid with transparent dark blue enamel. Maker’s mark “DA”. Matching solid gold and enamel chatelaine, gold clip supporting three gold and enamel shield shaped cartouches. Two further gold and enamel chains join to the watch buckle and two shorter chains with broad gold and enamel rings. Hinged clasps secured by threaded collars.

Winding through the white enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Fine 22 carat gold etui, the chased and engraved repousse frame set with polished bloodstone panels. The lower half housing a pair of gold handled scissors, scraper, pencil, spoon and combination file with tweezers. The upper half contains the watch, the movement hinging from the etui. The chased and engraved repousse work pierced to allow the bell to sound clearly, gold repeating push pendant and bow.
