Description

A 19th Century English painted dial verge with an unusual cock in silver pair cases.  Full plate fusee movement with round pillars.  Unusual cock depicting a beehive and bees on pierced and engraved table, steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance.  White enamel dial with polychrome enamel scene in the centre depicting a large family house with a horse and carriage waiting in the drive.  Roman numerals, gilt hands.  Matching silver pair cases, silver oval pendant and bow, maker's mark “VR”.

A rare subject depicted on the cock which we have not seen before.  Casemakers mark for Vale and Rotherham, Coventry
