Description

A late 19th Century five minute repeating lever by LeCoultre in a gold full hunter case.  High quality keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel, frosted steel wolf’s teeth winding wheels.  Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, escape and lever pivots with endstones.  Fully jewelled trains, the  repeating train including the hammers.  Slide minute repeating on two polished steel gongs. white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Plain 18 carat gold full hunter case, gold repeating slide in the band, plain gold cuvette.

A fine usable watch in excellent condition.  Five minute repeaters are surprisingly rare.  They provide a good balance of indicating a close approximation of the time while avoiding the complication minute repeating entails.  The movement is stamped by the manufacturer under the hour hammer and can be glimpsed as the watch repeats.
