Description

A small 19th Century Swiss cylinder in a diamond set gold and enamel open face case accompanied by a presentation case and alternative enamel dial.  Keywind gilt bar movement with suspended going barrel.  Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel.  Engine turned gold dial with Roman numerals, blue steel Breguet hands. Small 18 carat open face case with ribbed middle.  The back decorated with translucent green enamel over an engine turned ground, small central oval set with diamonds.  Wound and set through the gold cuvette, maker’s mark “D & C”.  Rectangular presentation case fitted for the watch and a spare enamel dial.

It is very unusual for a watch to be provided with an alternative type of dial.  It would not be intended for it to be fitted by the owner.
