Description

A late 19th Century Swiss cylinder in a gold and enamel pearl set case and matching chatelaine.  Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator.  Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel.   White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands.  Small gold open face case with prominent box hinges, gold cuvette.  The back with an offset polychrome enamel scene in 18th Century style depicting a cherub and cupid and bordered by a row of split pearls.  Above this applied chased and engraved gold foliate decoration on a dark blue enamel ground.  Tapering gold links attach the watch to the buckle which has a gold clip engraved with a dedication and two gold pins to allow it to also be worn as a brooch.  The buckle is decorated to match the watch, the scene depicts a single cherub catching fish.
