A late 18^th Century English centre seconds cylinder in a gilt consular case. Full plate fire gilt movement, signed and numbered gilt dust cover pierced to reveal the regulator disc and endstone. Pierced and engraved masked cock with large diamond endstone in a blue steel setting, silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder with original banking pin, unusually large brass escape wheel. White enamel dial with centre seconds, Roman numerals and fine seconds track at the edge. Gold hands, the seconds situated between the minute and hour hands. Plain gilt metal consular case both back and front bezel opening on the same hinge, dust proof shuts. Inner dome cut away to reveal the dust cover, maker’s mark “GMR”

A late 18^th Century French verge in a decorative three colour gold consular case. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Wound through the white enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, pieced and engraved gold hands. Gold consular case the bezels with applied gold dots. The back decorated with three colour gold depicting a basket with doves, a dog and a sheep either side.

Pierced and engraved cock with small chased and engraved bust on the table, diamond endstone, silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, large steel escape wheel. Winding through the signed gold centre seconds dial, subsidiary chapter above the centre with Roman numerals for time. Matted centre with engraved decoration, blue steel hands. Gold consular case, the bezels set with a row of large split pearls. Unusual cloisonne enamel back, black ground with translucent polychrome enamel over engraving forming foliate decoration. Button in the pendant to open the sprung front bezel.

Winding through the signed white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Gold open face case with pearl set bezels, gold pendant and bow. Unusual back set with white stones and decorated in red and gilt enamel on a black ground. At the base a stylised sun below the gilt decorated red enamel arc. Above this a crescent moon set with white stones.

Gold consular case, the bezels decorated with green, red and white enamel in a floral pattern repeated in the centre of the back. Wide border of translucent pale blue enamel over an engine turned ground surrounded by white faux enamel pearls. Round gold pendant surmounted by a single diamond.

A late 18^th Century English verge with windmill automaton dial in silver pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with fusee and chain. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial, the centre with a polychrome enamel scene of a central windmill, its gold sails rotating on the contrate wheel arbor situated below twelve. The riverside scene with a church and bridge in the background. In the foreground a fisherman on the bank. Narrow chapter of Arabic numerals, gold hands. Silver pair cases, plain inner with maker’s mark “TC” in a rectangle. Contemporary silver outer case of excellent fit with an engraved monogram. Lateral steel stop lever acting in the contrate wheel.

Rare Napoleonic Automaton Verge

A rare late 18^th Century verge automaton depicting the battle of Arcola in a silver pair cases. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with endstone in a polished steel setting, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with gilt indicator. White enamel dial, small subsidiary of Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. The lower half of the dial in polychrome enamel depicting the battle of Arcola. Napoleon on the left bearing a flag, riding a black horse onto the bridge followed by his troops. On the right Croatian and Austrian forces firing cannon. In the centre of the bridge a semi-circular opening reveals a rotating disc painted with cavalry riders appearing to charge across the bridge as the watch runs. Above the scene the text “Bataille bei Arcola gewonnen von Bonaparte – d16ten Novbr 1795”. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, the inner only bearing faded hallmarks.

Large Silver Automata Verge

A large late 18^th Century verge with automated scene in silver pair cases. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with large blue cabochon endstone in a gilt and polished steel setting. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, elaborate polished steel regulator marked “Advance – Retard”. Pentagonal baluster pillars. White enamel dial, the offset chapter of Roman numerals with Arabic numerals at the quarters. Fine decorative gilt hands. Around the chapter a polychrome enamel scene depicting a forest scene of a stag being chased. An oval aperture in the lower half of the scene reveals disc with figures of stags, hunters and dogs painted on it. As the watch runs the figures pass across the oval representing a hunt. Large plain silver pair cases, long silver pendant and bow.

Pierced and engraved masked cock, engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Unusual enamel dial painted wit a rural scene, the time shown on a small chapter of Roman numerals on the clock tower of a church in the foreground. Two gentlemen are depicted shaking hands on the path leading to the church, gravestones on either side. Behind them a windmill stands beside a river. Matching plain silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, lateral steel stop lever, maker’s mark “SB” in a rectangle.

Seven Decorative Watch Keys

A collection of seven watch keys. The earliest an 18th Century gilt metal crank with one square for winding and setting the watch, the other for adjusting the mainspring barrel tension. The other six. Three early 19th Century watch keys ratchet keys, one an elegant long gold key with wire wound body set with a small red stone, a simple silver ratchet key and the third later gilt key with circular open body and visible spiral spring. Two further early 19th Century keys, one a small gold key set with a trapezoid shaped bloodstone, the other a long engraved silver key set with an oval yellow stone. A late 19th Century gilt metal key in the form of a pistol resembling a colt revolver.
