Description

A rare late 18th Century large English verge with  an unusual form of windmill automaton in gilt pair cases.  Full plate fire gilt movement with round pillars.  Pierced and engraved masked cock, silver regulator disc.  Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring.  Rare fully restored polychrome enamel dial depicting a church on the right indicating the time on a clock in the tower, Roman numerals, gilt hands.  On the left a windmill, the blue steel sails rotating counter-clockwise as they are mounted on a pinion which is driven by two intermediate wheels.  Large gilt metal pair cases.

An attractive rare dial on a watch which is larger than a standard pair cased verge of the period
