Description

An unusual late 19th Century Swiss quarter repeating lever with jaquemart and concealed erotic automaton in a gunmetal full hunter case.  Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel.  Sector shaped bridge cock with polished steel regulator, uncut bimetallic balance with spiral hairspring.  Club foot lever escapement.  Push quarter repeating on two steel gongs, visible rotating train governor.  Small white enamel dial, Roman numerals, blue steel hands.  Either side of the dial are painted figures on a blue steel ground.  As the watch strikes the hours and quarters the arms of the figures move as though striking the bells between them.  Opening the back cover reveals a glazed painted erotic scene in a kitchen.  As the hours are struck the chef moves in time with the sound.  Unusual gunmetal full hunter case, the lids extended to accommodate the automaton work with gilt repeat push button, hinges, thumb piece, gilt winding button and bow.
