A late 18th Century Swiss verge in an unusual pearl set gold and enamel consular case.

Description

A late 18th Century Swiss verge in an unusual pearl set gold and enamel consular case.  Full plate gilt fusee movement.  Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator.  Wound through the restored signed white enamel dial Arabic numerals, gold arrow hands. Gold consular case, the bezels set with a row of split pearls.  The back set with an unusual pierced, chased and engraved gold oval plate set transversely.  A small section of the plate with enamel depicting a fountain, the remainder engraved with a scene of a woman and cherub either side.  The piercing revealing the plain polished gold back of the case.  Graduated split pearls border the scene which is set in dark translucent blue enamel over an engine turned ground.  The front bezel opened by depressing a button in the gold pendant.
