Description
A mid 19th Century English verge with polychrome enamel dial in silver pair cases. Full plate fusee movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved round cock, steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance. White enamel dial, the centre painted with a polychrome enamel rural scene of a farmer ploughing a field with two horses, a church in the background. Roman numerals, gold hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver oval pendant and bow. Maker’s mark “PW” and number corresponding to that on the movement.
A good example of a farmer's verge with "Speed the Plough" in excellent overall condition.
