Description

A mid 18th Century English skeletonised verge with polychrome enamel dial in gilt metal pair cases.  Full plate fire gilt movement with pierced and engraved skeletonised top plate, three turned pillars.  Pierced and engraved cock set with the silver regulator disc.  Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates.  Plain six arm polished steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring.  White enamel dial with polychrome enamel scene of a hunter and his dog in the centre, Roman and Arabic numerals, gilt beetle and poker hands.  Unusual gilt metal pair cases, the back of the inner case glazed to reveal the movement.  The inner constructed without a bezel and the glass fitted to the decoratively engraved outer case.
