Description

An early 20th Century Swiss lever by Longines in a silver trench watch.  Nickelled three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring.  Club foot lever escapement. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, luminous Arabic numerals and hands. Plain silver open face case, hinged back and silver cuvette.  Hinged silver lugs, slender black crocodile strap

Wearing a timepiece on the wrist first became popular in the First World War when the military adopted them.  They often retained the hinged back and cuvette as found in pocket watches of the period.  Due to the nature of their use almost all have suffered damage and wear.  This example is in remarkably good condition with little sign of wear, even the luminous numerals and hands retain their original radium.
