Description

An early 19th Century duplex by McCabe in a silver full hunter case.  Gilt three quarter plate keywind movement with fusee and chain.  Harrison's maintaining power.  Plain cock with polished steel regulator, diamond endstone, compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Duplex escapement, ruby locking roller, brass escape wheel, pivots with endstones.  Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, fine blue steel seconds hand with gold arbor, gold hands.  Engine turned silver full hunter case with reeded band, gold hinges.  Wound through the silver cuvette, number corresponding to that on the movement, maker's mark “JD” and “IMC”.

In excellent overall condition, the engine turning showing light even wear.  This is the earliest example of a three quarter plate movement by McCabe that we have seen
