Description

An attractive large 19th Century quarter repeating French cylinder in a gold open face case.  Unusual gilt three quarter plate keywind movement, the trains under a single richly engraved plate, the engraved repeating mainspring barrel bridge above it. Engraved suspended going barrel with polished steel Geneva stopwork.  Engraved cock with polished steel regulator, diamond endstone.  Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Push pendant quarter repeating on two blue steel gongs. Fine white enamel dial, small signature between the numeral six and the minute marking. Arabic numerals, blue steel Breguet hands. Attractive slim plain 18 carat open face case with ribbed middle.  Plain back with “Eliza L Hutchinson” engraved at the edge below the oval gold pendant.  Wound and set through the signed gilt cuvette.

An unusual attractive large repeating watch in excellent overall condition.  This seems large to be used by a lady suggesting the inscription may be that of the person giving the watch
