Description

An early 19th Century French quarter repeating automaton in a gold open face case.  Full plate gilt fusee movement.  Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Silver regulator dial with gilt indicator.  Push pendant quarter repeating on two steel gongs.   Dark blue enamel dial, small signed white central chapter with Arabic numerals, gilt hands.  Either side of the chapter are chased and engraved gilt classical figures, at the base a hunting dog.  As the watch strikes the hours and quarters the arms of the figures move as though striking the bells between them.  Engine turned gold open face case, engine turned middle, gold push pendant and bow, sprung gilt cuvette with aperture for winding.
