A fine rare gold and enamel box by Jean-George Remond in the form of a purse containing a musical movement. Small slide to start the 19 tooth musical movement by Piguet and Meylan. Wound through the base with a male key. The faces of the box engine turned to simulate figured silk bordered chased oak leaves and black champleve enamel. Piano hinge to the lid with applied section similarly engine turned and decorated with champleve blue enamel to represent a clasp. Curved top, again engine turned, the edges of reeded gold. The edge of the lid marked “GR” and number corresponding to that on the movement.
