Description

An early 19th Century Swiss quarter repeating musical watch in a gold and enamel open face case.  Gilt movement with two resting barrels, the larger barrel, being half the diameter of the movement, providing the power for the musical train.  Plain sector cock, polished steel coqueret and regulator, plain gilt balance with spiral blue steel hairspring, polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel.  Polished steel work on back plate to control the disc type musical train.  Pendant quarter repeating on two steel gongs, the repeating work situated under the dial.  Small button in the band to actuate the musical mechanism.  White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, blue steel Breguet hands.  Unusual gold open face case, the back of dark blue enamel decorated in gilt and polychrome enamel depicting a lute in the centre.  Ribbed middle, wound through the gilt cuvette.
