Description

A late 18th Century French cylinder an a fine gold and enamel case.  Keywind gilt Lepine calibre movement with suspended going barrel. Plain sector cock with polished steel regulator.  Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Signed white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Fine  slim gold and enamel open face case, the sprung back opened by depressing a small button in the pendant.  Gold bezels of translucent dark blue enamel over and engine turned ground with gilt decoration between slender bands of white enamel.  The gold back covered with translucent light blue enamel over a decorative engine turned ground.  Wound and set through the sprung signed gilt cuvette.

An attractive watch in excellent overall condition.  Pierre Gregson 1778 – 1790, Englishman, Clockmaker to the King.  His watches feature in a number of museums
