Description

A late 18th Century English verge with centre seconds polychrome dial in gilt metal pair cases.  Full plate fire gilt movement.  Pierced and engraved cock, engraved plate with square to regulate the watch, the index on the plate. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Unusual white enamel dial with offset chapter of Arabic numerals at twelve and centre seconds, small local repair at the edge.  Below the centre a polychrome rectangular panel depicting a fisherman on a river bank.  Blue steel centre seconds hand shaped to clear the cannon pinion, gold hands. Matching plain gilt metal pair cases, maker's mark “TL”.

An unusual layout for the dial and uncommon method to regulate the watch.
