Description

An early 18th Century continental pocket combination brass sundial and compass in a leather case.  Octagonal brass body housing a circular compass with silvered dial, blue steel hand under a glass.  Folding circular sundial index supported by a crescent index marked in degrees.  Folding brass gnomon.  Engraved on the underside the latitudes of cities, “Elev a Poli – Langres 47 – Konigsbe 54 – Lisabon 39 -L Grafs”.  Fitted in an octagonal leather carrying case.
