A large mid 18th Century English centre seconds verge with calendar made for the Chinese market in gilt metal cases set with an enamel scene.

Description

A large mid 18th Century English centre seconds verge with calendar made for the Chinese market in gilt metal cases set with an enamel scene.  Full plate fire gilt movement with signed and numbered gilt dust cover.  Gilt cock pierced and engraved in a geometric pattern, diamond endstone.  Silver regulator disc, lateral blue steel stop lever.  Fusee and chain. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring.  Fully restored signed white enamel dial with centre seconds, chapter of Roman numerals below the pendant and subsidiaries for day and date, gilt hands.  Plain gilt inner case.  The gilt outer case with gilt and engraved bezels, the front set with a row of red stones.  Polychrome enamel woodland scene on the back depicting a classically dressed couple.
