Today marks a significant day for the Royal Family, her subjects here in the UK, and many people around the world as the Queen marks her 90th birthday today (21st April).
At a time when pocket watches weren’t yet antique, but at the height of fashion, the Queen was finding her way in life, and today, as part of her monumental celebrations, a photograph of the Queen joined by her five great-grandchildren and her two youngest grandchildren was captured.
The touching image is one of a trifecta of images that have been released for her special day, and in the image of her Majesty with her great-grandchildren and grandchildren is a captivating one.
Prince George, Zara Phillips’s daughter Mia Tindall, and Peter Phillips’s daughters Savannah, and Isla, also feature in the delightful image at her home.
The Queen is also joined by the Earl and Countess of Wessex’s children – James, Viscount Severn, and Lady Louise Windsor.
The photograph, captured in the Green Drawing Room, part of the Windsor Castle’s semi-State apartments just after Easter, which, if you look carefully in the background is decorated with a rather notable antique timepiece.
So from all at Pieces of Time, we wish Her Royal Majesty the happiest of birthdays!
