Description

A rare 19th Century English verge with  an unusual form of windmill automaton in silver pair cases.  Full plate fusee movement with round pillars.  Pierced and engraved round cock, steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring.  Rare fully restored polychrome enamel dial depicting a church on the left, its clock tower indicating the hours in Roman numerals.  The minutes are shown by a central gilt hand on a very narrow chapter at the edge of the dial in Arabic numerals. On the right a windmill, the black sails rotating on the contrate wheel arbor. Matching silver pair cases, silver oval pendant and bow, maker’s mark “JM” in a rectangle.

An attractive rare dial.
