Late 17th century English quarter repeater. Signed silver champleve dial, fine gilt beetle and poker hands. Pierced and engraved silver pair cases.

Description

A late 17th Century English quarter repeater with silver champleve dial in silver pair cases.  Deep full plate fire gilt movement with five turned baluster pillars.  Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates.  Pierced and engraved cock with later diamond endstone, small mask, pierced and engraved foot.  Plain steel balance, silver regulator disc. Converted to cylinder escapement.  Push pendant quarter repeating on a bell in the case. Signed silver champleve dial, small gilt pins separating the Roman numerals, Arabic numerals for the minutes.  Fine gilt beetle and poker hands.  Pierced and engraved silver pair cases decorated with birds and cherubim.  Faded engraved coat of arms on the outer, engraved silver pendant and later bow.
