Description

A large early 19th Century French verge of Adam and Eve with an automated snake in a silver open face case.  Full plate gilt fusee movement.  Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator.  Polychrome enamel dial depicting the scene in the garden of Eden.  In a circular aperture Eve can be seen offering Adam an apple.  As the watch runs an engraved gilt snake can be seen circling them, indicating the seconds.  White enamel oval cartouche within a gilt border for the time and date, Arabic numerals, gilt hands. Large plain silver open face case with ribbed middle.
