Titanic timepiece up for auction

The key that a steward on the Titanic would have used to retrieve lifejackets has re-surfaced after 104 years. The key was found, along with an antique pocket watch, on Sidney Sedunary who unfortunately passed away during the tragedy at aged 25.

Rare pocket watch sells for 18x its estimate

An auction in May at Antiquirum’s auction house in Geneva saw an Urban Jürgensenpocket watch fetch the handsome sum of 747,750 Swiss francs in the auction of ‘Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces’, (lot 84). This was an astonishing 18 times more than the original estimated value.

Great Escape Rolex sells to anonymous bidder for £165,000 record fee

When it comes to antique wristwatches, a 1940s Rolex whose RAF owner was killed by the SS after the Great Escape, coming up for auction is set to attract a fair bit of interest. And when the lot came and saw the timepiece sell for £165,000, few were surprised.
