Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Pierced and engraved winged cock with irregular pierced and engraved foot. Plain steel three arm balance, silver regulator disc. Later white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Plain silver inner case, silver pendant and stirrup bow. Silver and tortoiseshell outer case elaborately decorated with silver pique pins, a chased and engraved circular disc at the centre of the back.

A rare early 18th Century English verge with glazed sides in a silver consular case. Deep full plate fire gilt movement, the sides glazed in three sections between the four pillars. An engraved gilt ring retains the windows, the fourth sections over the barrel decoratively engraved. The ring fixed by four screws through the centre of engraved representations of Egyptian pillars. Fusee and chain, pierced and engraved cock with small mask, broad pierced and engraved foot. Plain steel balance, silver regulator disc. Signed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals which unusually has touch pieces at the hours. Blue steel beetle and poker hands. Early 18th Century silver consular case decorative engraved with birds and a grotesque mask. Winding aperture with internal silver shutter.

The movement fitted to a metal liner. Turned bone bezel opening to the right, turned pendant, carved bow.

An unusual late 19th Century Swiss lever with unusual six minute flyback chronograph in a gunmetal open face case. Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel, grained steel chronograph work above the plates. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, uncut bimetallic balance with overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. White enamel dial with twelve coloured sectors, their borders at the five minute marks the Arabic numerals inside them offset slightly anticlockwise. The flyback centre seconds chronograph unusually rotating only once every six minutes, blue steel hands. Plain gunmetal open face case with gilt hinge, thumb piece, winding button and bow.

A late 19th Century Swiss lever with double sided calendar in a gold full hunter case. Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring, straight line club foot lever escapement. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds and Roman numerals, pierced gilt hands. The phase of the moon is indicated through an aperture in the centre of the dial on a blue steel and gold disc. The other calendar indications can been seen by opening the sprung back cover. The days of the week and date shown by a single gilt hand and the month in a rectangular aperture. The number of the days in each month are also given and the outer silvered ring indicating the day can be rotated by a thumb wheel to align the correct day with the date. The date is changed automatically by a pawl on the movement. Plain 14 carat full hunter case. Depressing the winding crown will release either the front or back cover depending upon the position of the bow.

A rare escapement, also known as a chaffcutter or club footed verge, was the first frictional rest escapement invented by Debaufre in 1704. Rarely used until it was taken up by Lancashire makers early in the 19th Century. Its use by a Swiss maker late in the 19th Century is very unusual. A late 18th Century pocket thermometer in a steel case glazed on both sides. Large circular bimetallic strip acting on the counterbalanced end of the light brass rack. Central brass pinion with hairspring to hold the rack in contact with the bimetallic strip. Blue steel hand indicating the temperature on Centigrade, Fahrenheit and Reaumur scales marked on the double sided silvered dial. Steel case glazed on both sides, a slide in the band moves the bimetallic strip, perhaps to adjust the indication to a known standard.

A rare late 19th Century automated gold Swiss brooch. The body of the gold brooch in the form of an open fan, chased and engraved set with split pearls. At its centre a pink and white enamel flower which rotates anti-clockwise while the finely engraved fly made of coral circles it in a clockwise direction. The mechanical movement encased in a figure of eight silver cover, silver pin.

A fine late 19th Century gold watch albert with interesting accessories. Double chain of parallel 9 carat links, each marked, one also with the maker's mark "J G & S" in a rectangle. Attached to the chain, in addition to the "T" bar and spring clips are the following:- a Victorian half sovereign, a gold mounted agate seal with intaglio of a classically dressed woman supporting an anchor, a gold toothpick, a gold compass glazed on both sides and a gold combination of compass surrounded by a semi-circular mercury thermometer.

An interesting relic. Watch movements were only rarely engraved with the year of manufacture. The date engraved on this one is probably to commemorate an event important in the original owners life. It may be the date and place of birth of Josiah Ashley, the watch a Christening present.
