A very interesting dial perhaps celebrating British victory at the Battle of Camperdown (Kamperduin) over the Dutch Navy in October 1797. The battle was fought very close to the coast of Holland, the Dutch hoping to lure the British into shallow water. The battle scene depicted may have taken inspiration from the Battle of the Nile, showing a ship exploding at its centre. In August 1798 the spectacular end of the French ship L'Orient was said to have been heard 50 kilometres away.
