The month instantaneously changes as the date moves to 1 by a flirt released by a cam. The calendar plate and glazed gold bezel hinged to the case, the plate cut away to mesh with the movement. Engine turned 14 carat rose gold full hunter case. Both covers opened by depressing the crown, the position of the bow governing which is released.

A fine example of a mid 18^th Century repousse watch showing almost no sign of wear. Thomas Baskerville was free of the Clockmakers Company 1738 - 1752. The scene of Rinaldo and Armida is taken from a painting by Louis Silvestre now in Cliche Bibliotheque Nationale de France. A watch by Quare and Horseman, circa 1725, now in the British Museum, bears the same scene. This has the signature of Ishmael Parbury who died September 1746. Nicholas Chateau took an engraving of the painting of Rinaldo and Armida in 1708. Prints after Silvestre were included in a sale after Parbury's death.

Three of the principal figures are partly formed from separate applied sections of freestanding chased and engraved gold giving great depth to the scene. Protective third case of gilt metal covered in shagreen with a glazed back.

An attractive watch in fine condition. Most verge watches of the period that are marked Breguet were falsely signed. This example however probably was inspected and sold by the firm but not manufactured in their own workshops.

An early 19th Century French quarter repeating automaton verge with concealed erotic scene in a gold open face case. Full plate fusee movement. Pierced polished steel bridge cock, polished steel endstone in a polished steel setting, silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Pendant quarter repeating on two gongs. Small white enamel chapter ring with Arabic numerals, gilt hands, pierced gold motion work. Either side of the dial are finely chased and engraved parcel gilt classical figures fixed above the decorative engraved plate and polished steel repeating work. As the watch strikes the hours and quarters the arms of the figures move as though striking the bells between them. Below the chapter ring the small parcel gilt cover can be slid aside to reveal a couple embracing on a couch. As the watch strikes the man springs into action, continuing until the repeating train stops. Engine turned 18 carat gold open face case with ribbed middle, gilt metal cuvette. A very rare and unusual small 19^th Century Swiss quarter repeating musical clockwatch with double wheel duplex escapement in a gold open face case. Gilt keywind movement with two going barrels. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, plain flat three arm polished steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Rare double wheel duplex escapement, both wheels of polished steel. Disc form of musical mechanism, unusually the pins operate on two sets of tines placed at 180 degrees. One set consists of 8 tines, the other 9. At the hour the music plays for half the travel of the disc which continues to drive the striking train sounding the number of hours. The clockwatch can also be made to strike at will by using the slide on the side of the case. The music again sounds and the watch strikes the quarters on two rectangular section polished steel gongs. If the slide is moved further against greater resistance it winds the striking mainspring, which can also be wound as normal with a key. Gold engine turned dial with Roman numerals in circular cartouches, gold hands. Small engine turned 18 carat open face case with engine turned middle, strike - silent lever under the front bezel. Wound and set through the gilt metal cuvette.

A very rare and unusual watch, the first we have seen! The combination of music with the clockwatch mechanism may be unique in a watch. It is surprising to find this in such a small watch. It is made even more interesting by the inclusion of a rare escapement.

Unusually this chronometer has a plain balance with spiral spring in place of a compensation balance. There are vacant holes in the plates where it was intended to fit a stop lever. However the edge of the bezel has neve been cut to accommodate it.

Screwed in jewelling, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Substantial plain silver open face case, gilt winding button and gold bow. Maker's mark "ATO" in an oval, number corresponding to that on the movement. Secured in the three tier mahogany box by a glazed brass screw bezel, signed and numbered circular bone disc bearing the broad ministry arrow and "C W". The watch is accompanied by a photocopy of the ledger at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. This records the early history of the watch purchased in May 1915. The earliest entry shows it with a Senior Naval Officer in August 1915 and sold November 1948 after a dozen transfers.

This deck watch has surprisingly managed to retain not only the bezel and flat crystal glass but also it gold bow. The deck box was originally constructed as a three tier type but the top lid is now permanently attached to the middle and the lock replaced.

An early 20^th Century centre seconds English lever in a silver case and mahogany deck box. Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement bearing the broad ministry arrow. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. English table roller lever escapement, screwed in jewelling, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with broad ministry arrow. Centre seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Plain silver open face case with gilt winding button, maker's mark "WB" in a rectangle, number corresponding to that on the movement. Silver cuvette only, back and bow removed. Secured in a mahogany deck box by a glazed brass screw bezel, velvet lined and with brass furniture. A metal circular disc secured to the top engraved "Captain M P Lewis" and a small bone plate marked "RAF". The watch is accompanied by a photocopy of the ledger at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. This records the early history of the watch purchased in June 1916. The earliest entry showing it on HMS Gibralter in July 1916. It was transferred 30 times, at first to the maker and finishing a Dents in November 1936.

A small unusual picture incorporating a clock and an automated erotic scene. Keywind gilt bar Swiss lever movement with going barrel behind the picture driving the pierced gilt hands of the wall clock. Uncut bimetallic balance with overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. The picture painted in oil on metal depicts a scene of a couple standing outside a hotel. Turning the picture over reveals an erotic scene perhaps depicting the same couple in a room in the hotel. Moving a watch winding crown at the side of the picture backwards and forwards causes the man to move. Cast gilt metal frame, the mechanism and watch movement enclosed in the metal back. String loop to hang the picture.

A mid 18^th Century gilt metal chatelaine, the cast hinged buckle decorated with a chased and engraved classical figure and cupid below within a rococo border. Two short chains, one with a key the other with a small set of bone notelets between two pierced covers.
