A very unusual dial. On close inspection it can be seen the regulator subsidiary is not precisely at 6 o'clock. This is caused by the shaft passing through the centre of the barrel which had to be placed slightly to one side to accommodate the case latch. Strangely the cases bear two different date letters. The outer case is marked for 1823 while the inner is marked 1825. It is difficult to know why this might have happened. Sometimes watches are found where a replacement outer case has been made due to loss or damage but here the outer is earlier than the inner!
