A fine late 17th Century English verge with silver champleve dial in silver pair cases. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with Egyptian pillars. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Pierced and engraved winged cock with pierced and engraved foot, later polished steel coqueret. Plain steel balance, silver regulator disc. Signed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and ring bow, split bezel. The outer case with square seven joint hinge. Two maker's marks in each case, "ID" in a rectangle and "ID".

A late 17th Century French oignon with cartouche dial in a decorative gilt metal consular case. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with slender Egyptian pillars. Fusee and gut wound by turning the square in the centre of the dial counter clockwise. Large pierced and engraved bridge cock, four arm gilt balance. Silver regulator disc adjusting a blue steel rack. Engraved gilt metal dial, white enamel hour ring and cartouches with blue Roman numerals, single blue steel hand. Large gilt metal consular case profusely engraved, gilt pendant and ring bow.

A late 18th Century English verge with the owner's name on the dial in silver pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with signed gilt dust cover. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Unusual white enamel dial, the hours indicated by the letters of the owner's name "William Pitt", Arabic numerals marking the minutes, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, maker's mark "TG". The outer case with a large engraved monogram "WP".

This watch probably owned by William Pitt, the younger (1759-1806), prime minister of Great Britain (1783-1801 and 1804-6). He entered parliament in 1781, the date of this watch. It may have been given to him to commemorate the event. Watches bearing dials where the numerals are replaced by letters are commonly thought to be the owners name. It is confirmed in this instance by the monogram on the case and the maker finding it necessary to add "Fecit" to the signature which is unusual at this period.

12 SWISS INDEPENDENT JUMPING QUARTER SECONDS LEVER UKP 750

An unusual Swiss lever with offset dial and independent jumping quarter seconds in a gilt metal glazed case. High quality gilt three quarter plate keyless movement, the plate pierced to reveal the train wheels. Two going barrels, frosted steel winding work, both barrels wound in the same direction at the same time. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Gold set screwed in jewelling, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Fine white enamel dial with independent centre seconds, subsidiaries for jumping quarter seconds and time with Roman numerals, gilt hands. Fitted in a gilt metal case, glazed both sides with a button in the band for the independent seconds train.

A small rare mid 17th Century Swiss pre balance spring verge in a gold and enamel case. Small deep full plate fire gilt movement with turned baluster pillars. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup on the top plate secured by decorative pierced blue steel runners. Pierced and engraved silver oval cock with pierced and engraved foot secured by a blue steel screw. Plain steel balance, three wheel train. White enamel chapter with Roman numerals, fine single blue steel hand. The centre of dial in polychrome and translucent green enamel, similar to the decoration on the back of the case. The decoration at the edge repeated on the front bezel of the case. The gold case decorated on almost all surfaces with polychrome enamel. The back of dark green translucent enamel over an engraved ground, around the side a pastoral scene with trees and rivers. The inside of the case also decorated with a riverside scene with trees and mountains in the background. Gold pendant and ring bow.

Signed gold champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, fine blue steel beetle and poker hands, the minute hand shaped to clear the winding square which protrudes above the dial. Attractive 22 carat gold consular case, the back and bezel decorated with chased and engraved repousse work. The classical scene on the back depicting a couple and dog in a garden set within a rococo frame. Gold swivel pendant and bow.

Well converted to English table roller lever escapement. Winding through the white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and an additional smaller inner chapter, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Fine gold consular case decorated in maroon, white and translucent green enamel. A central classical urn in the centre of engraved gold.

A rare early 19th Century Swiss Father Time Automaton in a gold open face case. Full plate gilt fusee verge movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Rare form of automaton, the gilt dial with repousse decoration, offset enamel minute ring and Arabic numerals in enamel cartouches. At the top of the dial an aperture through which can be seen a blue steel ground. Seated in the centre a chased and engraved repousse figure of Father Time holding two scythes. As the pendant is depressed two cupids move towards the figure. As the watch strikes the hours and quarters the arms of the cupids move as though striking the blades of the scythes. When the watch has finished striking the two cupids disappear under the dial. Engine turned 18 carat open face case with ribbed middle, gold push pendant. (No cuvette).

A shaped gilt plate engraved with a motif of musical notes covers the barrel and pins. Push pendant quarter repeating on gongs which are situated under the dial. Musical train released by a lateral gold slide in the band. Signed gold engine turned and engraved dial, white enamel minute ring and cartouches with Arabic numerals, blue steel Breguet hands. A small early 19th Century two day marine chronometer in a brass bound mahogany box. Small size full plate keywind fusee movement, four turned pillars secured by blue steel screws. Plain cock with diamond endstone, two arm compensation balance with two wedge shaped weights and timing nuts, freesprung blue steel helical hairspring. A 20th Century American lever deck watch in a silver open face case. High quality damascened nickelled split three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel micrometer regulator. Uncut two arm balance with overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Gilt centre seconds transfer wheel above the top plate. When the button is pulled to set the hands a fine detent stops the balance which is re-started when the button is pushed home again. Black 24 hour centre seconds dial with white Arabic numerals, white hands. Silver Keystone open face case with screw bezel and back bearing the serial and model numbers of the watch. Original Hamilton cardboard box bearing the serial number of the watch and a stamp of RAF Heywood, 23 Nov 1944.

The propeller of one aircraft is mounted on the seconds pivot and so rotates as the clock runs. Small Arabic numerals, pierced blue steel hands. Enclosed in a glass sphere in two halves mounted in nickel bezels, the front set with alternate clear and green pastes. Back glass with a flat portion allowing the clock to stand on a table.
