1 RARE 17th CENTURY SILVER ENGLISH VERGE UKP 3850
A rare late 17th Century English verge with silver crucifix and visible mock pendulum in silver
pair cases. Reversed deep full plate fire gilt movement with a chased and engraved silver plaque
on the back depicting Christ on the cross. Around this an engraved border with the makers
signature and the legend "INRI" at the top. At the outer edge of the movement a square to
regulate the balance spring on the opposite plate. Four pillars each with a two headed bird of
chased and engraved silver fixed by a single screw. Fusee and chain. One arm of the steel
balance visible through an aperture in the signed silver champleve dial. The winding square by
12 o'clock, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Matching silver pair
cases, silver pendant and bow, maker's mark "IH".

A very rare watch. The movement is constructed with the train going in the reverse direction to
normal to allow the balance to show through the dial. The fusee, escape wheel and verge staff
are mirrored in respect to a normal verge movement and the contrate wheel travels in the
opposite direction.

of the table and the other in the centre. Pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver
regulator disc. Plain steel balance. Signed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic
numerals. Small square aperture below the signature showing the date, fine blue steel tulip and
poker hands. Matching plain silver pair cases, maker's mark "IW".

scantily clad lady and an admiring onlooker. Silver regulator disc. Plain steel balance with an
affixed gold heart which oscillates when the watch is running. Winding through the signed silver

black numerals. This disc rotates once every 24 hours. The time of day or night in any of the

listed in Jaeger's book on Paul Philip Barraud. This may have been one of the last examples of
high quality hand made English work as the skills required were lost in the first World War. See

A very rare English lever watch with montre à tact in a slim gold open face case. Gilt three
quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel, Nicole's patent steel winding work above the
plate. Engraved cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel spiral
hairspring. English lever escapement. Small engine turned gold dial with subsidiary seconds,
Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Substantial engine turned 18 carat open face case with clip
on back, gold crown and bow. The small gold dial set within a wide bezel which has a hand that
can be rotated clockwise until it reaches the position of the hour hand. The can then be used to
tell the time by using touch pieces set at the hours on the engine turned middle. The touch pieces
at 11 o'clock is also used to set the time. Maker's mark "AN" in a rectangle, number matching
that on the movement.

The winding lever protrudes through the inner dome of the case, engaging a ratchet mounted on
the fusee square via a sprung pawl. The watch is wound by moving this lever backwards and
forwards. The hands are set by moving a wheel at the edge of the dial. White enamel dial with
subsidiary seconds, blue steel hands. Plain silver open face case with gold hinges and ribbed
middle. The back cover which is decorated with a vacant cartouche set within a circle is opened
by depressing a button in the pendant. Maker's mark "EH" and number corresponding to that on
the movement.

A late 19th Century American duplex in a silver open face case. Gilt keyless movement with
going barrel. Polished steel regulator, index on the top plate, uncut balance with spiral
hairspring. Pressed brass duplex escape wheel. Signed white enamel dial with Roman numerals,
blue steel hands. Engine turned silver open face case, clip on back and bezel. Original cardboard
box lined with purple material containing the instructions to return the watch to a London agent
for repair. On the lid the following information about the watch are given: Short Wind - Stem Set
- Quick Train - Jewelled - Enamel Dial - Six Jewels. On the underside of the box "Have you seen

A 19th Century Swiss cylinder with moonphase calendar in a nickel metal mounted glass ball.
Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Plain
three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape
wheel. White enamel dial with subsidiaries for seconds, day, date, month and moonphase.
Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Nickel bezels with pin sets for the calendar. The back glass
a hemi-sphere with a flat portion allowing the clock to stand on a table.

61 GLASS TABLE CLOCK with AUTOMATON UKP 295
A Swiss lever with a dial depicting a two cowboys in a gilt metal mounted glass ball. Gilt split
three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator,
uncut bimetallic balance with spiral hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Painted dial
depicting a an outlaw hold a bag of money being arrested by a sheriff. The sheriff is drawing a
pistol which is mounted on the lever arbor and so moves back and forth as the clock runs. Small
Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Enclosed in a glass sphere in two halves mounted in gilt
metal bezels set with large pastes, the back glass with a flat portion allowing the clock to stand
on a table.

plate.

quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Engraved cock with polished steel regulator,
compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. English table roller lever escapement.
Slide quarter repeating on two steel gongs. Minute recording flyback chronograph, the
mechanism unusually mounted on a steel plate situated between the repeating work and the clip
on white enamel dial. Centre seconds flyback chronograph, subsidiaries for minutes and
seconds, Roman numerals.
