This movement was still regarded highly enough nearly eighty years after it was originally made to have a new case and dial made for it, in gold! Although not as expensive as a new repeating watch this would still have been a costly exercise but for some reason it was not thought wise to pierce the outer case. Despite its mixed pedigree a fine and desirable watch.

A rare watch. Roskell has included many of the features he is famous for in this pocket chronometer. The balance has two trammel wires which limit the outward movement of the arms. However another watch by Earnshaw, no. 582 - hallmarked 1801, illustrated in "Watches" by Clutton and Daniels also has this feature.
