1 GILT FRENCH OIGNON UKP 2400

A late 17th Century single handed French verge in a gilt metal case. Deep full plate gilt movement, fusee and large chain, the barrel with a moulded lower section. Large pierced and engraved bridge cock covering a large portion of the back plate. Large plain three arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Small silver regulator dial retained by a small blue steel bridge. Elegant turned pillars and blue steel case spring. Chased and engraved gilt dial white enamel cartouches with blue Roman numerals, and an enamel hour chapter, later gilt hand. The square in the centre of the dial used to wind the watch. Deep gilt metal consular case decoratively chased and engraved over the entire surface. Ring bow and pendant.

A very unusual late 18th Century English verge with centre seconds and calendar in a silver full hunting case. Full plate fire gilt movement, the back covered in rich decorative engraving. Signed and numbered gilt dust cover, round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, a chased bust on the table, very large diamond endstone. Silver regulator disc. Small plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring, lateral steel stop lever. Attractive fully restored white enamel dial with centre seconds, and subsidiaries for age of the moon, day, date and time marked in Roman and Arabic numerals, fine gold hands. Unusual deep, purpose made silver full hunter case. The covers decorated in deep relief repousse work, the back in a decorative design, the front with a heraldic shield. Hallmarked London 1823.

An 18th Century English verge with polychrome enamel dial in silver pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate carrying the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Enamel dial with a small central chapter of Roman and Arabic numerals surrounded by a polychrome scene depicting a hunter and his dog beside a village stream. Later gilt hands. Silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow. The outer a well fitting contemporary replacement, the inner with maker's mark "TS" in a rectangle.

Unusual white enamel dial, the letters of the owners name, "William Baker" in place of the numerals, gold hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, maker's mark "WR" in a rectangle. The outer case contains an embroidered watch paper "From an Orphan".

Plain steel three arm balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Rare black enamel dial with white Roman numerals and minute ring, gilt hands. Gilt metal pair cases, the inner numbered and bearing the casemaker's mark "IR".

8 SILVER CALENDAR VERGE UKP 990

An attractive early 19th Century continental verge with calendar in a silver consular case. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Round pillars. Fully restored polychrome enamel dial with subsidiaries for time, day and date, the dark blue chapters marked in gilt Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. The calendar rings form globes on marble columns standing on a chequered floor. Between them a double headed eagle grasping an orb in one talon and swords in the other and surmounted by a crown. Large plain silver consular case.

Fully restored signed white enamel dial with subsidiaries for hours and seconds, the large minute chapter with Arabic numerals, blue steel seconds hand, gold hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, maker's mark "TB" and the number corresponding to that on the movement.

An early 19th Century English verge in silver pair cases and a silver chain. Full plate fusee movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved round cock, polished steel coqueret, gilt regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance. Unusual white enamel dial with Arabic numerals outside the chapter ring, pierced gold hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow. Maker's mark "NL" in a rectangle. Silver wire link three strand chain, a cartouche marked "EL". These initials crudely repeated on the inside of the outer case.

A 19th Century English farmer's verge with polychrome enamel dial in silver pair cases. Full plate fusee movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved round cock, steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, the finely painted central polychrome scene depicting a farmer ploughing a field with two horses, a church and farmhouse in the background. Above the scene the legend "Speed the Plough", gilt hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver oval pendant and bow, maker's mark "BN" in a rectangle.

14 SLIM GOLD CYLINDER UKP 995

An attractive slim Swiss cylinder wound by a male key in a gold open face case. Keywind gilt Lepine calibre movement, offset centre pinion, suspended going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator which is adjusted through a slot in the dial. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Attractive engine turned silver dial the chapter with Roman numerals offset, fine blue steel Breguet hands. Slim engine turned 18 carat open face case with engine turned middle. The clip on back with a small aperture to wind the watch with the male key. During normal wear this is covered by a gold plate which can be moved aside by depressing a small button in the pendant. Velvet lined red morocco box inscribe "Comte Deidrichstein" in gilt lettering.

Winding through the fully restored white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals. Silver, gold and enamel case in the form of a star. Dark blue enamel with red and gilt decoration, the scalloped edges bordered with mock enamel pearls. White, red and green paste set hinged bezels to the back and front, gold oval pendant.

An early 19th Century Swiss quarter repeating automaton verge in a silver open face case. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with gold indicator. Pendant quarter repeating on two gongs. Gilt dial with a small central chapter of Arabic numerals in enamel cartouches, blue steel hands. Either side of the dial are finely chased and engraved gilt and silvered figures of American Indians. As the watch strikes the hours and quarters the arms of the figures move as though striking the bells between them. Silver open face case with engine turned middle, silver push pendant, winding through the gilt metal cuvette.

An early 19th Century Swiss quarter repeating automaton verge in a silver open face case. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with steel indicator. Pendant quarter repeating on two gongs, the polished steel repeating work visible below the skeletonised figures and dial. Small white enamel chapter ring with Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. This is carried above the movement plate which is decoratively engraved. Either side of the dial are finely chased and engraved three colour gilt classical figures. As the watch strikes the hours and quarters the arms of the figures move as though striking the bells between them. Glazed cover over the dial and figures, the hands set through an aperture in the centre. Attractively engine turned silver open face case, oval cartouche with engraved initials, ribbed middle. Silver push pendant, winding through the signed gilt metal cuvette.

32 GOLD QUARTER REPEATING MUSICAL WATCH PLAYING God Save the King UKP 5400

An early 19th Century Swiss repeating musical watch in a gold open face case. Gilt movement with two resting barrels, polished steel Geneva stopwork. The larger barrel, being half the diameter of the movement, providing the power for the musical train. Plain cock, steel coqueret and regulator, plain gilt balance with spiral spring, polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Polished steel work on back plate to control the disc type musical train. Pendant quarter repeating on two steel gongs, the repeating work situated under the dial. Lateral slide in the band to actuate the musical mechanism and a lateral polished steel lever to allow the music to play automatically on the hour. Gold dial with enamel chapter and cartouches of Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands. Attractive gold open face case, the engine turning on the back radiating from a vacant oval cartouche at the lower edge, ribbed middle, gilt cuvette with apertures for winding.

A late 19th Century quarter repeating Swiss lever chronograph in a gold full hunter case. Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. A rare and attractive late 18th Century duplex by Lepine in a gold open face case. Keywind gilt movement with suspended going barrel. Plain cock with a hare and a snail inscribed on the foot for the blue steel regulator, bimetallic compensation curb. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Duplex escapement with brass escape wheel. The centre seconds hand beats seconds by means of running from an extra pinion attached to the escape pinion. This engages the wheel carrying the seconds hand once every second and so advances it, lateral steel stop lever. Attractive engine turned gold dial with centre seconds, Roman numerals, fine blue steel hands. Substantial engine turned 18 carat open face case with ribbed middle, hallmarked London 1808. The hands are set by moving a wheel at the edge of the dial. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, blue steel hands. Engine turned silver open face case with gold hinges and ribbed middle. The back cover which is decorated with a vacant cartouche set within a circle is opened by depressing a button in the pendant. Maker's mark "EH" and number corresponding to that on the movement.
