| We would hope to keep the collection together and so invite anyone who would like to purchase all the watches, or a substantial number of them, to contact us to negotiate a price. |
| Because of this we will take, but not confirm any orders before Wednesday, 12th October. Until that date you may place orders in the usual way. If you use the "Buy it Now" feature your credit card will not be charged until after that date. All sales will then be dealt with on a first come, first served basis. |
| The watches in this catalogue were collected by Paul Hackamack
who started buying watches in the early nineteen sixties. In 1975 he
started research into the firm founded by James McCabe in London towards the
end of the18th Century. In 1977 he
published an article in Antiquarian Horology working with the limited knowledge
of that time. He continued collecting pocket watches by McCabe, carefully
selecting them to represent the output of the firm over their one hundred years
in business. The watches here each have some significant difference, and although some are quite similar, no two are exactly alike . They would form the core of a collection which could be expanded over time to include some of the more exotic watches that come to the market. There are still many questions which further examples and detailed research would help answer. |
