Pieces of Time has now been in operation for almost 20 years. It was started in 1983 by Alan Grant and Johnny Wachsmann. In 1995 we expanded our established mail order service with a site on the Internet. This quickly became the largest specialist antique site and retains that position to this day. For reference we keep available on-line all watches ever listed - over 2000 illustrated by 5000 images!

Johnny & Lynette in the Shop
History

It was felt there was a niche in the market for a mail order catalogue that would be able to reach collectors and dealers, not only in England, but throughout the world. It took three years for the venture to become financially viable: In fact at the beginning the income didn't even cover the costs of the printing! Not surprisingly perhaps, people were initially wary of purchasing watches from a new company with such an innovative concept

Since those early days people have become more accustomed to "shopping by mail" and the catalogue has become well established. By the Summer of 1998 we have published forty seven catalogues.

If you would like a "snail mail" version ask us to send you a current catalogue for an introductory price of UKP £5.00

Showroom

We are located in one of London's largest antique markets, Grays. The market consists of a large number of units, each unit selling antiques and collector's items, many specializing in one area. The market is in London's Mayfair not far from the American Embassy. Situated close to the junction of Bond Street and Oxford Street, it is only a few yards from Bond Street tube station.

Opening times are 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You are welcome to come to see us at any time but a telephone call first is always a good idea to ensure we are there to see you.
We normally have over a hundred pocket watches on display and many more movements are to be found in drawers around the shop.
