Index No. A8836 Fine Gold Keyless Fusee English Chronometer
A fine early 20th Century English keyless fusee chronometer with power reserve indication in a gold full hunter case.  Gilt half plate keyless movement with fusee and chain. Harrison's maintaining power. Engraved cock with large diamond endstone. Heavy compensation balance employing quarter timing nuts, amplitude limiting pins in the arms of the balance.  Freesprung blue steel "duo in uno" hairspring. English spring detent escapement.  Screwed in jewelling, escape pivots with endstones. Fine white enamel dial with subsidiaries for power reserve and  seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands.  Substantial plain 18 carat full hunter case, hand set pin in the front bezel released when the cover is closed.  Maker's mark "FT" in an oval.
Anonymous English
Hallmarked London 1906
Diameter 52 mm
A fine late example of English watchmaking in a Thoms case which surprisingly lacks a signature.  Duo in uno balance springs are very uncommon as they were difficult to make.  This balance also has simple pins placed in the balance limit its amplitude.
