Index No. A8724 Gold and Enamel English Verge
A late 18th Century English verge in a gold and enamel consular case.  Full plate fire gilt fusee movement with round pillars.  Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc.  Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring.  Wound through the white enamel dial, the numerals replaced by the original owners name "ELIZA MAMMATT", gold hands.  Gold consular case the bezels with white enamel faux pearls.  The back decorated with fully restored translucent red enamel over an engine turned ground.  Unusual concealed hinge, the sprung bezel opened by depressing a small pin in the band at three o'clock, maker's mark "IW".
