Index No. A8735 Independent Jumping Sixths Seconds Chronometer
A very rare late 19th Century Swiss chronometer with jumping sixths independent seconds in a gilt full hunter case.  Keyless nickelled bar movement with two going barrels.  Frosted steel winding work, the gold trains wound by turning the crown in both directions.  Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring.  Pivoted detent chronometer escapement, escape and detent pivots with endstones in gold settings.  Signed white enamel dial with independent centre seconds, subsidiary for jumping seconds, marked in sixths but the hand landing only on the odd numbers.  Roman numerals, fine gold hands with polished steel inserts.  Fitted in a contemporary gilt American full hunter case engraved on both sides.
