| A fine example of an 18th Century Irish watch in excellent overall condition. Carlow lies about 30 miles southwest of Dublin. The casemaker is John Bolland who was working in Dublin at the time. The three watchpapers are interesting, giving an indication of the early life of the watch. Johnson worked in Dublin from 1812 - 1824. The other two papers are from towns in County Mayo on the west coast. J Brady was in Westport from 1808 - 1844. No record of Roland Stephens has been found in Castlebar, which is only a few miles away. Also scratched inside the outer case is "John Carty August 12 1839". |
