spring detent chronometer escapement Fully restored signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Substantial engine turned 18 carat open face case, maker's mark "HW" and number corresponding to that on the movement. Wound and set through the gold cuvette which is engraved with the inscription "Presented by Her Majesty's Government to Captn John A Hill of the Ship "Shannon" for his humanity
to the crew of the Ship "British Lion" in October 1864".
