| A 19th Century English verge with windmill automaton dial in silver pair cases. Full plate fusee movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved round cock, polished steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance. White enamel dial, the centre with a fine polychrome enamel scene of a windmill with its gilt sails rotating on the contrate wheel arbor. Roman numerals, gold hands. Matching silver pair cases, the owners name "T Sewell" engraved on the outer. Silver oval pendant, maker's mark "JH" in an oval. | ||

| An excellent original example of an English windmill automaton which become scarce in recent years. The scene is of very high quality, the detail including a cart loaded with bags of flower and a labourer carrying a bag down a ladder from the windmill. |
