| A fine large 18th Century English verge quarter striking clockwatch in gilt metal pair cases and fitted mahogany box. Full plate fire gilt fusee movement, signed and numbered gilt dust cover pierced to reveal the silver regulator disc. Pierced and engraved cock, small oval cartouche with a bust.
Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Large resting barrel for the quarter strike sounding on a bell in the case. Lateral steel stop lever by 8 o'clock. Unusual white enamel regulator dial with four subsidiaries. The lower subsidiary for continuous seconds, the upper showing the hours in Roman numerals, the left for phase of the moon and the right for Strike - Silent. The minutes are shown around the edge in Arabic numerals, fine
gold hands. Matching gilt metal pair cases pierced and engraved to allow the bell to sound clearly. The back of the outer decoratively pierced and engraved, maker's mark "TG". Unusual square mahogany box, the lid and inner fitted piece both made of four pieces mitred to the corners, brass fittings.
