Index No. A8127 Gold and Enamel Verge and Chatelaine
A late 18th Century French verge in a gold and enamel open face case and chatelaine.  Full plate gilt fusee movement the engraved edges of the plate chamfered.  Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Silver regulator dial with gilt indicator.  Signed white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, gold hands.  Gold consular case, the matted bezels decorated with applied gold foliate decoration and a band of white enamel.   Dark translucent purple enamel back over a gold engine turned ground.  Unusual gold chatelaine of three pierced chains, the centre one with white enamel decoration.  Gold pierced cartouche decorated with enamel and split pearls on both sides.  Attached are four short chains with two keys, an anchor and a seal.
