Index No. A8133 Gem Set Three Colour Gold Watch
An early 19th Century continental decorative three colour gold gem set open face watch.   Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement. Plain cock with diamond endstone, polished steel regulator, plain three arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  English table roller lever escapement.  Engine turned gold dial with applied two colour gold decoration around the edge, Arabic numerals, gilt hands.  Decorative gold open face case with chased and engraved middle.  Gold bezels with applied two colour gold decoration and set with red stones.  The matted gold  back with applied three colour gold foliate decoration, also set with red stones.  Fitted red morocco case lined with dark green velvet.

Interestingly the original verge movement with its dial has been retained in this watch but "modernised" in the mid 19th Century by an English watchmaker.  The pillar plate has been used but the top plate and the whole of the train has been replaced.
