| In excellent overall condition. Baillie lists two watchmakers named David Lesturgeon. The father originally from Rouen came to London in 1681. This is probably by his son who was free of the Clockmakers Company 1698 - 1737 and made watches for the Royal family. The movement has some unusual features: The hour hand is set on a pentagonal arbor, the cannon arbor is not drilled for a securing pin and the hinge is on the dial plate rather than on the movement. The case also has nine joints to the hinge on the outer case which was made by Richard Blundell, circa 1688 - 1710. |
