Index No. A7617 Rare Masonic Gilt and Shagreen Verge
A rare late 18th Century English verge with named Masonic dial in gilt metal and shagreen pair cases.  Full plate fire gilt movement with round pillars.  Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring.  Polished steel case latch spring.  Rare enamel dial with polychrome enamel Masonic symbols in the centre, the numerals replaced by the owners name, "George Stone", gold arrow hands.  Matching gilt metal pair cases, the outer covered in shagreen decorated with gilt pique pins, maker's mark "TG".

A very rare dial in good condition but with a very small local repair at the lower edge.  It is unusual for an outer gilt metal case to bear a makers mark.
