Index No. A7416 Gold Hunter Savage Two Pin Lever
A mid 19th Century Savage two pin lever in a gold full hunter case.  Gilt three quarter plate keywind movement with sprung dust cover pierced to reveal the plate and table of the cock.  The underside of the dustcover numbered and marked "IMC" and "IxR". Fusee and chain, Harrison's maintaining power.  Plain cock with polished steel regulator, diamond endstone. Plain three arm gold balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Savage two pin lever escapement, escape wheel pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel seconds hand,  gold fleur-de-lys hour hand, later minute hand. Crisp engine turned 18 carat full hunter case with ribbed middle, wound and set through the inner dome.  Number corresponding to that on the movement, maker's mark "GH" in an oval, additionally "IMC" and "SS".

This watch is marked "SS".  Paul Hackamack believed only English table roller watches bore this mark.  It is vey unlikely to have been converted to Savage two pin and it may have been marked in error as far fewer were made than the standard type.  See also a watch by Richard Bridgman in this catalogue.
