| A mid 19th Century freesprung English lever in an unusual gold half hunter case. Gilt three quarter plate keywind movement with fusee and chain. Harrison's maintaining power. Plain cock with diamond endstone, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. English table roller lever escapement Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel gold hands. Unusual engine turned 18 carat half hunter case with ribbed middle. The raised blue enamel chapter ring with small central glass replacing a standard full size glass, the numeral twelve at the pendant. Number corresponding to that on the movement, maker's mark "GH" in an oval, additionally "IMC" and "SS". | ||

| This unusual case was probably modified at the first owner's request. The body of the case is fully marked as is the back. However the back bears the date letter for the year 1850 rather than 1849. The front cover is unmarked, possibly because using a punch would have damaged the enamel in the chapter ring. It would seem that the back required changing for some reason as well as replacing the front glass. |
